Sometimes, we at The Band know that part of owning who you are is admitting it to the world.
It's one reason why we at The Band work tirelessly to break down stigmas and find the ties that connect us all, the ties that remind us that we are none of us alone.
Please join us in standing tall and proud as we tell the world who we are.
What are you, The Band, The Face Of?
There's so much to be said for what a person holds within themselves. I cannot narrow it down to just one thing that I am the face of, no matter how hard I try.
I am the face of abuse, of surviving but not really recovering (yet!)
I am the face of adoption - a son I placed, whom I love infinitely, yet who wouldn't recognize my face.
I am the face of grief - over friendships, abandonment, dreams unfulfilled.
I am the face of stress, of remaining strong when i just don't want to.
I am the face of a step-mother, marrying a fragile man.
I am the face of hope, some days it is all I have (and even then, not much of that).
I am the face of depression, of anger, of rage controlled.
I am, will always be, the face of migraines, cluster headaches, tension and silence.
I am the face of self-harm, even when it is not physical.
Each of us, within ourselves, is the strongest person we've ever met.
I am the face of someone who is just at that breaking point, struggling for air, searching for words, wondering if it would all be better if I just started elsewhere, a new name, a new identity.
